For the Butterfly cake - Baking with kids, mix all cake ingredients into a bowl and pour the dough in a round baking pan of 28 cm diameter. (A 26 cm diameter one will do as well.) Bake in the oven at top and bottom heat 180 C for 25 min. until the cake is golden brown.
Take the cake out of the oven and let it cool off. Meanwhile choose 2 smarties for the feelers. Coat these 2 smarties on one side with the liquid chocolate and gently press a toothpick on each. Leave these butterfly feelers aside until the chocolate has dried.
Remove the cake from the pan, put it on a plate and cut it into half. Now cut a triangle out in the middle of each half cake (see picture). As the triangles won't be needed for the butterfly, they are ready to eat for the baking team now ;) Turn the cake halves the other way round to get the butterfly shape on your plate. The chocolate bar put in the middle will be the butterfly's body. If it is too big, trim it a little.
Now it is decoration time! Be creative with your designs! Outline the butterfly wings with smarties by "glueing" them with the liquid chocolate on the cake. Finally stick the feelers into the chocolate bar. Now the butterfly cake is ready, enjoy it!
