This super easy Chocolate Cake is very simple and delicious. It is quickly made and can even be prepared over 2 days. You can bake a 2 layer or 3 layer cake out of this recipe. You will love this simple german chocolate cake. Enjoy!
Beat the eggs for two min. Then mix in the sugar and vanilla sugar. Now, beat again for 12 min. Next sift the flour, cocoa and baking powder into the mixture and mix again. Just short until everything is mixed well.
Pour the mixture into a round 24 cm baking ring. Bake at 200 °C for 12 to 15 min until the cake is well baked. In the meantime you prepare the chocolate cream. Heat the whipping cream in a small sauce pan (don't boil). Take off the heat and break the baking chocolate in small pieces. Mix them in the cream until they melted. After cooling down, let chill in fridge for minimum 3 hours.
After the cake is cooled off cut it into 2 or 3 layers depending on how many layers you want in your cake. I did both, see pictures. All these first 3 steps can be made in day one. So you can continue with the following steps on the next day if you like.
Spread the milk with a baking brush on the cake layers. Now whip the cold chocolate cream (from fridge). Next you build the cake: Take aside the bottom cake layer, it will be the top one later. Put the first cake layer on a plate and close the cake ring around it. Take one third of the whipped chocolate cream and spread it on this layer. Sprinkle the cream with half of the chocolate pieces/sprinkles. Repeat with the second layer. And finally put the last layer (the bottom layer which was set aside) on top.
It is also possible to have the cake with 2 layers.
